Counselling

What to Expect

Talking to someone about what we're going through can be intimidating, especially when we feel overwhelmed. Often, we try to push our feelings away and do everything we can to feel better on our own. Except when we keep things to ourselves, it can feel like they grow and grow.

Counselling gives you the space to pause and stop these problems from getting bigger. Looking at our hopes and fears isn't easy, but by working together, I can help you shoulder that burden and find a better understanding of what you're facing.

As we notice the thoughts, feelings, and physical sensations that come up for you, we can explore how things might be different. By putting words to your experience, it can become easier to see solutions. Rather than tell you what to do, I will support you to consider what is going on and find your own way forward. I will meet you where you are at, and I offer my acceptance, empathy, and curiosity to do this.

Counselling can vary in duration depending on what we are focusing on. In our work, we will review what and how we are doing regularly to make sure you are getting what you need from sessions.

Initial Meeting

Choosing the right counsellor is a really personal decision, and it's important to find someone who is a good fit for you. In the same way you might get along with some people more than others, you might want to meet with more than one counsellor before making a decision.

I offer a free introductory meeting up to 15 minutes long. This is a chance to ask any questions you may have and to decide if counselling and working with me is right for you. You can share what has brought you to counselling, what needs and hopes you might be bringing, and get a feel for how we might work together.

There is no obligation to return. If you feel you don't click with me, I will do my best to point you in the direction of help that is better suited. If we agree to work together, we can arrange to meet weekly or fortnightly for 50 minutes by video call or telephone.

Fees

£50 per session, paid via bank transfer.
